I had no luck changing the key using the DefaultKeyBinding.dict route :(

Still not working. Is this hopeless?

Can't figure what strange character I manage to insert between hope and less...

Well, I can add some debug output to next build -- I really have no idea what could cause it to not work for you, except for other functionality claiming the key equivalent.
You did try this on a new account on your machine, right?

Thanks Allan,
I understand it's hard to figure this out on your side.
I tried *a lot* of new key equivalents. I tried with first quitting "shortcuts observers" (like FastScript, Shortcuts, CocoaSuite) then tried everything again in a new account.
Maybe it's another "functionality claiming the key equivalent", but there's no "shortcuts observers" in a new account and there is no Input Managers in /Library. Plus I tried different shortcuts...
It's not a major problem, but it's still annoying.

Doesn't work here either. Tried in a new account and it still doesn't work. It works on the iMac though, strange.

Not 10.4.8, I'm still on 10.4.7. ;) The problem is I don't remember when it started, as I don't use that shortcut every day. I mainly use direct command shortcut and ctl + cmd + T. But I think it was way after 10.4.7.
Just to be sure I checked the services' shortcuts, but they all use cmd.

I have 10.4.8 with build 1258 and crtl-esc works fine for me.

Its never worked for me on the powerbook when I've tried, ever since I bought my licence in feb 2006 (approx.)
I've just never bothered complaining about it because I tend to use ⌘⌃T to select bundle items I don't know the key combo for.
