I've had a couple (2 or 3) of occasions with TextMate crashing and all those times, it happens doing exactly the same. However, this isn't reproducible in the sense that I can make it happen anytime I want to. That said, what happens is the following:
1. Cmd-F to bring up the Find dialog box.
2. Fill in the text to be searched.
3. Press <tab>.
4. Boom.
Each time, I send a crash log to Macromates and Apple, but I haven't seen this problem on the list. I know of one other person who also had this happen. Are we the only ones? :(

See 22.10 OakFindPanelDisableHistory [1] in the manual.

I had a problem with Find similar to this. The Find dialog box would not come up with Cmd-F. Then, suddenly, it would work normally for a few times before breaking again. This problem arose soon after using Find in Project for the first time. I finally reset the defaults to make it work properly, but am wary of trying Find in Project again.
Allan, do you think I should use the tip in http://macromates.com/textmate/manual/ expert_preferences#oakfindpaneldisablehistory to avoid this since it was not exactly a crash?
Cheers,
Jenny

The problem (that disabling the history controls works around) is that controls or the window gets released (even while in use) which often leads to crashes, but can also manifest itself in other ways (another one I’ve heard a few times is that mouse clicks are ignored.)
If the find window did not show on ⌘F then you should probably try it from the menu, ensure that it’s not just hiding somewhere etc.

Thanks, Allan. I've just entered the command. Let's see if it goes better with this. Glad we weren't the only ones having this problem :).
