Does anybody have any speedup tips for textmate? It never was the fastest of text editors but it's latest release (not CVS but stable) is really unworkable on my little iBook. Even in a 100 line html file it takes forever to scroll to the end of a line or the bottom of the document.
I only use textmate for PHP, HTML, CSS, Javascript and Ruby so would it help if i just scrap all the extra's for the diferrent programming languages?
Thanks for any optimization tips you might have!

Probably not, it's most likely some other things such as rendering or input matching or something. It's slow on my machine too, although scroll speed improved a good deal in a recent beta.

Some people have reported that quitting and restarting the app helps. (I don't see a slowdown, but I'm on a fast machine.)

Read: Allan went by with a new TextMate version, on which especially key-speed has improved a good deal.

For new threads USE THIS: textmate@lists.macromates.com (threading gets destroyed and the universe will collapse if you don't) http://lists.macromates.com/mailman/listinfo/textmate

Good luck ;-). First of all TextMate is kept in svn, second it's developer-private (being a non-source distro and all). But I should think that this change will make it into the next beta.

Here's an update to 1.1b14 which has the improvement, released as a test of building a universal binary (so users of MacTel would be wise to grab it as well -- it requires Tiger): http://macromates.com/textmate/files/TextMate_1.1b14u_r2.zip
