Good point. What I seem to get is
2005-04-30 00:21:00.022 TextMate[17407] didn't find rule named text.html.basic
with every keystroke, so it probably does have something to do with the HTML language definition.

The scopeName in the HTML.plist file should also be text.html.basic. If not you may just need to update the HTML bundle. If it does match then its beyond me.
