Hi, If I set the scope of a doc to SQL and enter a select statement, I see this:
In pepper (TextMate¹s spiritual parent as far as I am concerned: soooo far ahead of its time on everything except folding!), I get what I expect:

• Looking at the SQL syntax, it seems someone added a "^" to the start of the keyword group containing SELECT. The problem is that this keyword group also contains FROM and WHERE.
• Also, DROP TABLE doesn't seem to be highlighted correctly, probably an ordering problem. Seems to be catching "table".

Think the real reason is that no one has really ever spent the time to improve the SQL syntax beyond the basics. But the other issue being the lack of syntax. MySQL is different than Postgres, which is different than... You get the idea. Hard to design a syntax around something that is so loosely defined.
To get a good syntax defined someone needs to find a good writeup on the allowed syntax by MySQL, and then Postgres, etc. I stopped when I couldn't even find one for MySQL in the docs.
How does one join the "official" editors list for a language? We could probably get this one running nicely without too much effort: deleting that ^ rule from the select statement made a big difference for a stat :-)

Yeah, but there's a fairly small set of common commands, and then there's a lot of implementation-specific extensions/details. We should at least get the basic stuff right. I'm pretty sure the SQL syntax used to work better than it does now.
