Hi,
Just wondering what do you get when you buy a textmate licence, in terms of upgrades. Are you entitled to all the point releases, e.g. 1.4 -> 1.5 but not major release like 1.5 -> 2.0.
Also will textmate work with the new Intel Macs?
Thanks, Andy
From my understanding. Only minor point releases. so you'll get all of
the 1.x releases when you purchase now. But will have to buy 2.x. Who knows, though, only Allan can really comment on how he'll handle that and I believe he's still on vacation.
As for Intel Macs. It's a universal binary. So yes, it'll work on an intel mac.

Yep, 1.5 is a universal binary.

According to the site you're entitled to the point releases. But Allan releases development builds almost nightly which are more than stable enough to use for daily work, so it's not like you have to wait for an official "release" for new functionality.

Yep. It's a universal binary so the same copy will run on a powerpc or intel box.

that's allan's official position on the subject. from time to time he also stated that he has kind of a "moral commitment" to announce 2.0 several months in advance.
my personal opinion is that we'll have 1.6 (or another 1.x) with enhancements to project handling; the famous release with improvements to the editing core could become 2.0.

p.s.: according to macrumors and appleinsider, textmate 3.0 will make your coffee.

As long as the web page says “should make it good for at least a year” the license should be exactly that, so if I suddenly decide to release 2.0, it's unlikely that users who bought a license within the last year has to pay an upgrade fee.
