When you want to start a new thread ALWAYS write a NEW letter to the mailing list rather than reply to an existing one (and change subject).
When you reply to an existing letter the threading gets messed up which makes managing threads problematic (and messes up the archive)!
I *did* like the old sig that include "For new threads USE THIS: ..." Especially the warning about the Universe collapsing.
Sadly, a lot of folks just never read that stuff stuck on after the end of emails. Including the "To unsubscribe" info that many lists append.
-> Maybe a more close-to-home warning about rising sea levels would catch their attention!

I have an ambition about writing my own mailing list software (when 2.0 is out ;) ) and that’ll bounce all letters with an in-reply-to header w/o a ‘Re:’ prefix in the subject (or parenthesized ‘was:’).
Many clients (such as Gmail) hide signatures automatically.
You could put the cure for cancer in your signature and most people would never hear about it.

Not in the first post a new thread.
Thomas
Strangely a new topic I created using a new email is listed as part of this thread (see the bottom of http://lists.macromates.com/textmate/2010-August/thread.html).
Is pipermail perhaps misbehaving?

Yes — I asked about this sometime ago at the Mailman list, and was told that “some combinations of Ubuntu and Python have problems” or something like that.
If I re-generate the archives I get a Python encoding exception when it hits one of the letters, so not sure if this can be fixed (retroactively) in the future (when I no longer have this unfortunate combination of Ubuntu/Python/Mailman), but keeping my fingers crossed.
This email is a joke. A joke that was specifically designed to annoy Allan. We love you Allan. Give me a pony.

Is v3 the visual version, or the Windows version?
Can't wait for the TextMate app for iPhone. Of course I will have to get an iPhone to use it.
*lmao*

No. V3 is the Swedish version, based on the 3-cylinder SAAB 2-stroke engine. Just add a quart of oil to the gas tank for the slickest editor in town.
Lewy
BTW, I loved my 1960 SAAB. And all the rest until General Motors bought SAAB AG. Alan, don't sell out, especially to GM. [?]
