Looking over my web statistics I encountered this referrer [1]. Seem some cool guy put in some effort to translate part of my Basic Tutorial [2] to Japanese.

Howdy,
Japanese are notoriously poor and allergic at English. I'm translating the TM manual at svn repos, and I didn't have enough time, but I will finish it as soon as possible.
Let me advertise a little about my new site written in Japanese. I opened up some of the translations on the webpage, and the website is basically for those who have vertually no knowledge about TM. Check out http://matetips.info . This website is not structured, but a collection of random tips. I will talk more about issues Japanese people typically tackle with (like encodings and a combination with other apps to solve the issues, etc). I just started this a few weeeks ago. Tons of more contents are in the works.
I wanna, at least help out people who give a try to TM and wanna prevent people from asking questions for split windows :)
My problem with translation is that, as Japanese langauge has a variety of honorific levels, Allan sometimes may sound too noble, or he sounds too casual :)
Anyway, glad to know more people are interested in TM.

I know of your efforts to translate the manual. And your site there is definitely Japanese, I can tell this much ;) Hopefully encoding and wide char displaying issues will be gone in TM2.
I wonder how many people in Japan actually know about Textmate. It is somewhat tied to ruby (or rails more specifically) and seeing that Matsumoto Yukihiro comes from Japan… What text editors are you guys over there using mostly?
The translation of the manual is surely not easy. At first I thought that blog I linked to might be written by you. Maybe this guy can even help you out a little :)

I can tell you that Matz is an emacs fan.

Yeah, Matz uses emacs. I should also add that Oniguruma is written by Japanese.
I think if TM 2 has supoort for Japanese, there will be more people to be involved in the community. There are official documentations written in Japanese for some languages like PHP, we could use Control- H to look up in Japanese documentations. There are more things I can consider.
There can be a bundle for handling Japanese easier, like converting full-width kana to half-width. This kind of thing can be done soon if people in Japan find TextMate useful.
I see many mags in Japan put TM on the list for useful apps for rails with hetima's trick for handling Japanese. Aside from editors we all know, CotEditor is a very good addition to the family of editors on the Mac world. But, even for Rails development, people prefer Windows.

By myself I have such commands for converting hankaku <> zenkaku, hiragana <> katakana, kana>roomaji, etc. Most of them are in Perl. One can use mecab, or kakasi etc.....
I don't know about the Objective-C support for that but one could try to write a plug-in for those stuff if Objective-C has some support at least.
This kind of thing can be done soon if people in Japan find TextMate useful.
I believe in the opposite way. First, we should collect those routines for a Japanese bundle, make it good and public. After that people in Japan will find TM more useful ;)

I only know the other way around (Japanese --> German or English) but wouldn't it be the easiest to just compile the stuff as some kind of FAQ or manual and then settle with one honorific level which is usually used in manuals or that kind of documents.
