Hi,
I run TM 1.5.7 (1464) on 10.5.2 ppc.
I'm a keyboard person. If I open the standard Find Dialog and I would like to choose a previous used Find pattern, I press ARROW-DOWN to open the history list; then I go to my desired pattern; and finally to select it I press ENTER or RETURN. But pressing ENTER/RETURN not only selects my pattern but also starts the Find/Replace process, which can be a bit annoying caused by the issue that I didn't choose my replace pattern yet.
Is there a way in TM 1 or TM 2 to get rid of the "tiny problem"? Meaning, if the history list is open ENTER/RETURN _only_ selects the list item?
Many thanks,
Hans

How about pressing "tab" after you've highlighted the required search term?

This doesn't work. If I press TAB only the focus will jump to the next GUI element (without selecting my required search term).

Hi again,

element (without selecting my required search term).
Gack: sorry 'bout that. I selected the same thing that was already in the field when testing...
Take two is a fairly ugly procedure, but might be better than touching that dirty mouse. When arrowing down the list hitting
Shift-Return
inserts your selection into the field. Then
Tab
goes to the replace field. As mentioned above, it ain't pretty...
Cheers, Paul

Hahaha, the life is so easy if one knows how ;) Thanks for the hint!

... but these things on mac sometimes still are goofy ... whenever possible, and even those are tiny problems, please keep them in mind.

Actually I just did a plug-in for this, by request. http://ciaranwal.sh/files/FindHistory.tmplugin.zip With it installed you can use Control and up/down to move through the previous values in the find and replace fields. This has the benefit that it also works when in multi-line mode ;)
this sounds very useful, but would you mind making one with a different key shortcut or tell me how to alter yours. control+up/down interferes with spaces for me. perhaps option+up/down?
Thanks, Nick
