This just started happening -- I *think* since the latest update (1203) but I'm not 100% sure about that.
Almost every time I switch from some other app to TM, the cursor goes beach ball on me for about 10 or 20 seconds before giving TM the focus. It really sucks for web page development since I'm constantly flipping between the browser and TM.
One thing that may be a factor is that my site is located on an AFP share on another box on my network as a mounted volume. However, I can edit using skedit with no trouble and no delay.
Any ideas?

Thought Id mention this as I've had this problem before - some time ago. I had my PHP error log open in TM and was editing a webpage and tabbing between Safari and TM to see the changes. Every-time I tabbed back to TM there was the beachball and a delay. It was down to the error log changing while it was open in TM.

Thanks Ben -- I think my situation may be different though. My app isn't writing any logs.
Any other thoughts?

I am also experiencing this problem. It seems to happen a lot more when I have a project with a lot of files in it open. I think it has to do with checking for file system changes. I have started trying to use smaller projects to get around it. I'd rather not have to, but it's working better for me right now when I do that.
On a related item - I am also experiencing TextMate telling me that a file has changed and asking whether to reload or keep the TM version. This happens quite often even for files that have most definitely not changed on disk.

Yeah, I'm seeing this too. I can't vouch for when it started, since I just started using a project on an AFP volume. And the delays definitely seem to correlate with AFP. :(
One thing I've noticed is that the situation seems to improve slightly, for a while at least, when I quit and reopen TM. FWTW.
