That post summed up something I was thinking myself; TextMate is emacs for OS X, minus Richard M. Stallman and Eliza!

and minus Free Software-ness, but allan's terrific skills make it just a license problem rather than a development quality one. and I got allan's word that should he ever stop developing TextMate he'd open the source. ;)
