Hi,
When I do a quick look on a TextMate text document, I just see a big TextMate icon and not the content. Does anyone have an idea how that could be fixed? Is it a Mac OS problem for not showing the content of a text file or is the OS simply asking the app (TextMate) how the document should be shown somehow?
The content of Text Clipping are not shown, but the content of RTF files and OpenDocumentText (odt) files created by TextEdit are.
Thanks Jasper

what format is the file you can't see? I've created and saved files with TextMate and they all show up in QuickLook just fine.. (CSS/PHP/ TXT. even dragging text out of textmate onto the desktop...)
curious...

I see this with .tex files. I figured it's because TextMate claims various types without declaring a UTI; hence, .tex files aren't recognized as conforming to public.plain-text, so aren't recognized by Spotlight or Quick Look.

The same thing happens in 10.4, when you're using the column view in the Finder, and there's the preview icon on the right. Testfile.txt displays its text in the preview, the same file renamed to Testfile.md doesn't.

then I can confirm that behaviour, I just created a .tex from the standard templates and yes it's as you describe in quick-look / coverflow.
we shall have to wait for someone clever to bring the added functions to Leopard.
;o)
I am not sure what you mean with 'format'. The document is an utf8 text file with extension '.sql'. I don't know the type and creator. The icon shows that it is a TextMate document with 'sql' below it. The finder get info window says 'Kind: SQL source'.
Does that help?
I can reproduce creating a .html and .txt document and seeing the content in QuickLook. But I cannot reproduce dragging text from a textmate window to the desktop (which creates a text clipping) and seeing the content with QuickLook. In this case, I only see the icon of the document.
