Couldn’t you query the system for the resulting action for a given key press instead of
trying to replicate the logic? At worst, request a list of the active key equivalents,
and search through the results.
I think that CheatSheet manages it somehow...

It’s a little tricky because we rely on the system to resolve non-bundle item key
equivalents and the exact algorithm used (by the system) is complex (and would have to be
replicated by TextMate).
