here is the issue i am having...
1. i scroll to a place deep within a long document to do some editing, say a css file 2. i then switch to another document to apply some other edits, i switch documents by clicking on their tab 3. when i return to the first document, the css file in this case, the caret has returned to the top of the document and i have to scroll again to find the place that i was editing...
is there anyone else having this issue?
thanks for a great product none-the-less!!

According to John Peele [*] Arrival 5 Design:

Agreed, it bits me all the time.
This is likely to be the "refresh bug" I complained about a couple of days ago. http://one.textdrive.com/pipermail/textmate/2004-October/000919.html
It was introduced in 1.01ß2. According to Allan, it has now been identified and will be fixed soon.
This is a critical issue. A friend of mine, who bought TextMate too, stopped using it because the bug drove him nuts. As for me, I switched back to 1.0.1ß1. I can't wait until it's fixed !

as a workaround for the time being, what I do is always remember to "click" in the center of the document that I am looking at before I switch to another tab. this way it will hold your place. definitely a bug though.

A bug is when something behaves differently than _I_ intended it to behave! ;)
That said, I've changed the behavior to use the first visual line instead of centering the caret -- I'll do a beta build tomorrow, I hope to have the refresh bug fixed and external ftp client support also.
Kind regards Allan
does this *feature* :) have any effect on the undo history?
here is my scenario... same css document as before, when i save the document and then switch to safari to preview the changes and then switch back to textmate, i no longer have any undo's available for that particular document.
any ideas?

Centering the caret when switching tabs was intended behavior, dropping meta-data on some re-activations was a bug -- both things have been “fixed” in beta 2, which is available in 30 minutes.
Unfortunately it doesn't contain the much requested support for external ftp programs, this should make it to beta 3 though...
Kind regards Allan
