Dear TextMate members,
I wanted to tell the list about a new feature on Academia.edu. Academia.edu launched 12 months ago and now helps 300,000 academics a month answer the question 'who's researching what?'
We have built a dedicated page on Academia.edu for the TextMate mailing list:
http://lists.academia.edu/See-members-of-TextMate
This page will show you fellow members already on Academia.edu. You can see their papers, research interests, and other information.
Visit the link below, sign up with Academia.edu, and see who else from TextMate is on Academia.edu.

Are you going to spam each and every mailing list? Did you not learn from previous reactions on other lists? Be ashamed.
Jonas.
We have been getting the word out. Thankfully, we have also received many letters of gratitude for the service provided by Academia.edu. Give it a try - I think you will find it worthwhile.
Best regards, Richard

Richard,
It's not the service so much as it's the method of going about getting new members. Try to imagine if every list service (and related) went around to every other list service and spammed like you have.
Effectively, any substantial content would drown in the spam (I wont argue semantics on that).
Speaking possibly purely for myself, my perception of your organization is that it can't provide a good enough service. It seems desperate. Like a peddler. There are plenty of other avenues to become recognized and around here there's schooling on just that subject.
Good luck on your endeavor, Jack

I want to sincerely thank those of you that have posted constructive criticism. Academia.edu is still growing. If you have any suggestions with regards to attracting more academics, I would be happy to hear them.
Best regards, Richard
