Hi all,
This issue has already been discussed in the lists, but I didn't find any conclusive answer. Would it be possible to add in the LaTeX bundle the option to watch a latex file with latexmk (ie with the -pvc option)? I kind of understood the advantages of the Watch bundle (mainly speed?) but still want latexmk to do the job for me (to update cross-references and included documents like figures).
For the moment, I am using http://www.nabble.com/LaTeX-Watch-td9730030.html#a9814889 Martin's tip , but I would like a better integration (like stopping watching), and anyway think it would be worth being included in the standard LaTeX bundle.
Hi,
I reiterate my question: is there any chance to see a LaTeX watch function using latexmk included in the LaTeX bundle? I think that would be great.
Cheers,
enas

enas, Robin Houston wrote the Latex Watch bundle and I added to the Latex bundle. Occasionally I get patches from Robin and others that I apply to keep it up to date. Whether a feature like this gets added will depend on whether Robin has the time and inclination to add the feature. Or as we say, patches are always welcome.

Brad,
Well my proposal was to add a Latex watch function that indeed didn't use the Robin Houston's one (so it's independent from him). Latexmk has an option to do the same thing (latexmk -pvc), but a bit differently to the way Robin Houston's bundle does it (as far as I understood from the mailing list, it has its drawbacks, like speed, but its advantages, like the fact it recognises included files like graphics - anything that is encountered in the log file actually).
So my wish would be that the LaTeX bundle gives a choice for which watch mode to use. Would that seem interesting to you? I don't really know how latexmk -pvc works, so I don't think I couldn't add the feature (easily at least, but I could still RTFM of course).

Can we extend slightly this feature request? I think it would be nice to add to LaTex Watch a mechanism to choose latex options, similar to the one in Run Latex. This would cover both the OP's request and mine (to add the switch -synctex), and others I guess.
Thanks Piero
Yes, that's exactly how I would see it!
I have another question, for those of you who know how latexmk -pvc work (I know this might not be the right place for it, but since I hold you now). When is the refresh triggered? Is the launched process that periodically checks the watched document (and its dependencies) to track changes and then refresh the PDF, or is it in some way the fact that we save the watched document that triggers the refresh? So in other words, if I change not the main document, but one of its dependencies, will latexmk -pvc detect it and refresh the PDF?
Thanks again to all,
enas
