Recently, when I try to open TextMate, TextEdit opens up instead. I cannot figure out how to launch TextMate. I think this started happening around the time I upgraded to Lion, but I am not sure if there is any connection.
I rebooted one time and was about to launch TextMate, but now even if I reboot it still brings up TextEdit.
Thanks for your help,
- Tad
Just a shot in the dark here, but isn't there something like a Launch Services database that keeps track of the associations between apps and so on? I have a vague notion that this can be rebuilt. Jerry

Jerry,
That was a good idea to try, but that didn't work for me either.
I got the command to run from this MacLife page: http://www.maclife.com/article/howtos/how_rebuild_launchservices_remove_dupl...
Still bringing up TextEdit, though.

My bad. This is the correct way not repair permissions.
Cheers,
Phil.

Yep, it's like the Rebuild Desktop command in the old Classic Mac OS but is Repair Permissions in Disk Utility in OS X.
Personally, I'd delete all things TxMt related (back-up prefs, plist, bundles, serial number, etc first) then repair permissions & re-install.
Cheers,
Phil...
