First wanted to say I love textmate. It and amazing piece of work and I just recently discovered it. (I just switched to a mac a few months ago).
i'd like to see an option to sort folders first in the files panel. I am not sure how possible this is with the cocoa controls
Another suggestion (and I think it was already purposed) is to be able to double click on folder names.
I just wanted to see if this was a possibility before I purchased :)

Currently not possible in TextMate at least. I'm undecided if it should be allowed in 1.2 -- I preferred it that way myself when I first switched to the Mac (since it was what I was used to), but it seems that “the mac way” is to always alphabetize regardless of type, presumably to allow “type letters to select”, though currently unsupported in the project drawer.

Yes, if you refer to double click to descend into the folder (in the project drawer), that is on the 1.2 to-do.

Not so. The Finder has included a "sort by kind" feature in list mode for a long time.
1. Go to Finder. 2. View > as List. 3. Scroll right, until the Kind column comes into view. 4. Click the Kind header.
The column/browser view does not support sorting of any kind, to my everlasting irritation. But that's not a Mac-native limitation, it's a limitation inherited from NeXT.
Therefore:
(a) Finder's "type select" doesn't rely on the order of items in the view. (b) There's nothing unMaclike about sorting options.
:)

Personally I think this is horrible, however there's a slight hack which involves you changing the name of "Folder" to " Folder" so that folder kind items will always appear first in the finder when grouping by items ... unfortunately I seldom do that either.

But unless all the files are of the same kind, there's still no way to group folders above files!?!
No, there's no way to force that if it doesn't happen by virtue of the kinds of files.

For new threads USE THIS: textmate@lists.macromates.com (threading gets destroyed and the universe will collapse if you don't) http://lists.macromates.com/mailman/listinfo/textmate
The thought was just that you don't need to differentiate between different types of files. I love sorting by name, but I don't like when I have to scroll half way down the list to get to a folder called "inc"
Would seem logical to it sorted by name, folders first. and I hope that a future os x update includes this in Finder.
The " Folder" hack is fine, but causes some weird things in the applications folder :)
