I miss a new-from-template-function in TextMate. I know I could realize them as snippets but nevertheless it would be comfortable.
Otherwise a new-as-copy-function which creates a new file with the beginning content of another file.
I'm new on TextMate and really love this editor!! :-)

It's hidden ;) You have to have a project in order to use it. If you have a project open, press shift-cmd-n and you can select a template from the bundles.

Thanks. Didn't use projects before.
Another question then:
I can create a file from a template, save the file but not save the project (thats what I actually want).
But why do I have to create a new project first, when the templates aren't connected to a project?
Wouldn't it be easier, if you could create from a template directly?
And what about a menu-item for the cmd-shift-n-command?

Sure you can save the project (File / Save Project). Much of the time though, you can treat a folder as a project, and just drag that folder to TM.
But why do I have to create a new project first, when the templates aren't connected to a project?
I've always wanted to merge single document window and the project stuff, just never got around to doing so, and eventually settled on making that the core thing for 1.2.
The connection with projects though is, that a template can create multiple files -- but I've never really been happy with how this currently works.

It's in the project drawer action menu.

I see that the problem is more complicated, when the document-window and project-window aren't really the same. You can't see that from the GUI :-)

I mean, the templates are not project-specific. You can use them in every project. But you have to create a project to use one. That's a bit weird, isn't it? :-)
It's not really a problem and this will (if I got you right) probably change, when you merge your window stuff.

WOHO! Do you want a wish/pre-bitch list for that or are you already set on how to proceed? (twice I've edited the wrong buffer, just because they looked so similar, that would not have happened if they were at different places on the screen)

Another tip: You can drag TM to the finder toolbar and then drag folders onto that icon to create instant projects.
