I am getting a dialog asking me to update TextMate, but when I check for updates, there are none:
But that's not the worst part. I click Continue, and the interface has gone crazy: the gutter is suddenly black, and it isn't using my preferred font any more. It's as if all my preferences had been overthrown. m.

I just had an update today. :)
Maybe check the "Software Update" section in TextMate's Preferences and look what is enabled for "Watch for". I have it configured for "Nightly Builds".
regards, Christian

I will if I have to, but I'd rather not! I don't want nightly builds... Too scary and I'm in the middle of mission critical stuff. m.

Sorry about that, didn’t realize it was this long since a regular build.

I pushed the latest nightly build as a regular release, this has dozens of fixes and no new experimental stuff, so it should be fairly solid.
On average I think the nightly builds are better than regular releases, because they get fixes faster ;) but there is the small chance that something bad will sneak into them, most of such incidents have been when I unknowingly use something that is unavailable (or broken) on 10.7. I’ve been contemplating some sort of auto-downgrade daemon incase of a crashing update; for non-crashing updates, one can switch back to “Regular Releases” and do a “Check Now” to downgrade to latest non-nightly release.

I remember something like this happened three or four times in the past on my system, too. But when I closed the window and re-opend it, the interface was back to my usual settings. As far as I remember, I really just closed all windows, without quitting the application.
Kind regards, Tobias Jung
