Image Map Tool:
This is probably the feature from Homesite that I miss the most with my transition to OS X for my work computer.
TM has done a great job of easing the pain in most other regards, but I still find myself having to create at least one or two new image maps every week. Most of the guys I work with are happy firing up ImageReady to create them, but I consider this ridiculous. It's overkill to open a (bloated) program, which I use for no other purpose, just to create an image map.
Having used BBEdit prior to TM, I know that it also lacks an image map tool. So this would be yet another area in which TM could beat BBEdit.

When I occasionally need to make an imagemap, I fire up TacoHTML. I never use it for anything else but the imagemap tool is pretty nice actually.

But it's not overkill to bloat a text-editor with a tool for creating image maps? :-p. That said, with TM one can probably create commands to start external, specialized apps to make this easy :-).

They are both TEXT editors, after all... ;-)

It's not overkill to add a feature that is extremely useful on a near-daily basis to people who build websites.

Homesite is also a text editor. It just happens to include a number of features that are immensely useful for people who code for the web.

Homesite is an HTML Editor, try using it for Java or Python or whatever and see how it fares.
You can always
add a feature that is extremely useful on a near-daily basis to people who build websites
and have it commit to the repository so we all can use it and will praise you.
TextMate is about the users expanding it. Or do you request this feature of us other users?

Hey, let's not turn this into a flame war. Although TextMate includes user-contributed code, it is after all a commercial closed-source application, and I'm sure Warren's request was primarily directed at Macromates. He just wanted to discuss the feature request publicly; he wasn't expecting you to jump up and write something for him. There's no need to feel offended or to mock his request. Personally, I agree with you that image map editing would find a better home as a Dashboard widget than a TextMate add-on, but let's try to keep this discussion friendly, okay?

Macromates is skiing :-p. At any rate, of course features like this would be nice, which is why someone should make a command, snippet or whatever it is for it if they need it, or have someone who can do it, do it :-).
