dear all,
I just moved to a new machine (from PPC to macintel) and now "typeset & view" doesn't work. more precisely: compilation of the file is fine but preview doesn't work. instead i get a spinning ball in the upper left corner and a paper icon in the middle of the html-window.
on the command line ps2pdf, pdfview etc. do work. if I remove *.dvi, *.ps, *.pdf in the working directory, TM initiates their recreation, so this isn't the problem. it sems to me that, for some reason, TM can't access the previewer.
i re-installed TM, to no avail. same if i create another user account and try it there.
TM, cutting edge.
any hints?
best,
christoph

I once had a similar problem, which was resolved when I installed the 'PDF Browser Plugin' (http://www.schubert-it.com/pluginpdf/). Though I'm on PPC – I don't know whether that plugin works on Intel machines.
In any case, this may be relevant. Can you view PDFs in a Safari window, say?

it's ppc only. however, i had disabled rendering pdf within safari on the ppc-machine but 'typeset & view' was not affected.

it's interesting: i enabled this feature in acrobat (with safari no showing pdf within its window) - when doing 'typeset & view' i still get a blank window with the spinning symbol in the top right corner but this time with the acrobat-icon in the center.
i suppose your question points into the right direction but i still don't know what's going on.
thanks!
best, christoph

Definitely there are compatibility problems with Adobe’s PDF browser plug-in, should be possible to disable though: http://macromates.com/ wiki/Troubleshooting/PDFPreview

thanks but that doesn't help either. perhaps acrobat 8 is the problem and i should try acrobat 7. anyway, i decided to set
V=${TM_LATEX_VIEWER:-pdfview}
and let pdfpreview show the file in a different window. it's not important to get the review within the html window.
