Can TextMate 1.5.9 (r1510) be used with Mac OS X 10.6.4? The TextMate web site says:
TextMate 1.5.9 (r1510) Mac OS 10.4.2 PPC/Intel
Guess I am just getting used to my new Mac (former PC user). I know Linux has issues sometimes when downloading software not specifically compiled/tested for a particular release.
Thanks.
Yes, you definitely can.

I'd also add that I think Mac software is far more capable of running on various versions of the OS than Linux. Forward compatibility seems to be the norm...I still have an app that I download back in the 10.1 days that hasn't been updated since, and it still runs fine on 10.6.4.
Usually the only limitations are when the software depends on frameworks and capabilities introduced with a specific OS, and those tend to be the major releases (e.g., 10.5 or 10.6, but not 10.6.3 or 10.6.4).

hmmm... I'm running Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and it turns out I've been using 1.5.8 (r1498) all this time. But now that I've got it tweaked exactly the way I like it - Green Moleskine, etc etc - I'm somewhat reluctant to upgrade... what would be some of the advantages? I poked around on the site but couldn't find a revisions list. cheers, bennett

Recommended to upgrade to Cutting Edge in Preferences → Software Update (r1589). I think this has a few Snow Leopard workarounds.
