New subject: `mate <file>` from Terminal is occasionally very slow to open <file> in TextMate
I've had this problem for quite a while now: mate is fast to pop up with an empty file, but when using it for my git commit editor, it takes quite a while to pop up.
It sometimes pops quickly if I have been recently using it recently .. but is typically slow.
