Another example of something to avoid, aka things textMate really wasn't designed for. -- Open a large file (mine was > 7000 lines) -- Select the entire file -- Edit each line in selection -- start typing.
This brought the computer to its knees.

There are, of course, at least a dozen other ways to do what I started to do: Filter through command, Command, Search and replace ( $ with [replacement value]), etc

Well I think you have bad luck because I don't have any problem with editing files with > 15000 lines. Also never had problem with selecting entire file. Maybe it depends on the machine you are working on ?

It probably also depends on how complicated the grammar is for the type of file you're editing, since (I think) every line has to be re- evaluated with every keystroke.
