I'm wary of asking this, because of it's flamewar potential, but why did TextMate decide to switch from tabs to spaces by default for Python?

It looks like spaces are standard since 2001, so the change in Python's bundle is a bugfix.
(disclaimer: I'm not a python programmer but I was curious about the question and this was the google result I found)
