Hi,
I’d like to have a way to disable autoclosing of overflow tabs. I know it has been asked before and explained why it works this way.
My problem is that closed tabs also loose undo-history so even if it’s easy to reopen them for me it’s not a solution. Of course I’m open to any other solution for the undo-history problem.
Thanks,
Elia

Although it’s definitely meant as a feature, I think my reason for enforcing it was because I didn’t have the overflow menu initially, so I wouldn’t mind making it a setting (now).

This might be a little cumbersome, but you can set tabs as sticky (from context menu), then they should not close.

That would be perfect, settings was actually the first place I checked to change that behavior :)

Indeed it’s not a viable solution, I clean up the tab list often during the day with ⌃⌘W and ⌃⌥⌘W.
Thanks,
Elia

I was wondering for a long time if there’s a way to keep the undo stack in case of closed tabs or window. The thing is that my workflow sometimes includes a lot of experimenting with code and then doing a lot of undos to go back to a state without those experiments. But if TextMate for example crashes I lose this ability. Usually I can use git diff in this case, but still it would be nice to have ⌘Z working after crashes at least.
This Undo persistence could probably also be enough for those wanting a simple versioning system built into TM. Being able to Undo ad infinitum is the simplest versioning system I can think of.
