What can anyone recommend as a simple, straight-forward, umm... "Mac- like" FTP client program for Windows? Do any of them offer an "Edit with..." feature?
I saw mention of "WebDrive" earlier on the list. Something I'd not heard of and it *might* be the ticket. If I can get them to buy it.

I haven't used Windows extensively over the last couple of years but a few weeks ago I needed an FTP client there and gave FileZilla a shot. Well, the interface is more or less what you'd expect from a filemanager and from what I can see it also support remote editing.

As I've said: I haven't really worked with it over a longer period, but when I tried it, it worked ;-)
Another FTP client I've at least heard good things about (used it for about 2 years ... 6 years ago *g*) was SmartFTP. According to its feature list it also supports remote editing.

Thanks for the hints. I didn't know about SmartFTP. Golly, it is UGLY. It doesn't work with SFTP ("SSH is a UNIX Protocol"). And I can't get it to work using FTP over SSL.
FileZilla is only slightly less ugly. It, at least DOES handle SFTP. Its "Edit with" capability is FAR from transparent, though. Yuck.
At this point, I'm going to push them to just pay for WebDrive. Getting them to grok that will be confusing enough!

CuteFTP is probably the most robust. But it also looks like someone's butt. It's hard to escape that with Windows Apps.

You know what FTP client I always liked for Windows? BulletProof FTP (www.bpftp.com). I always thought it was the best of all of the Windows FTP clients.

On windows, I used BlazeFTP from http://www.flashpeak.com/ blazeftp/....but I haven't used windows in...gosh...2 years there- abouts. No idea if it's still a valid suggestion. === ~Adam
