Hello Textmate-Users,
i'd love to see a solid block-cursor in Textmate, configurable by the user : blinking or not, block or default as it is. Maybe i'm gettin' old, but i find myself frequently searching for the cursor since I switched to working on black. I'd like to read u'r opinion on this and for sure maybe there exists a osx-hack already to achive this without bothering Allen ;-)

I often have difficulty also locating the caret. (I am assuming you were talking about the caret, not the mouse cursor). I have found two ways to make my life easier: One is to always highlight the current line. (In the Fonts & Colors preference item, it's the Line Highlight item. Just set it to something that would slightly stand out, enough to notice but not too much so as to distract). The other is, whenever I am looking for the caret, to press something like shift-cmd-right arrow, or left arrow, so as to get it to select an entire line, hence having more stuff stand out. Then pressing the arrow in the other direction returns me to the state I was at before.

Two more things I use:
ctrl + L centers the caret on the page. I look at the "Line: Column:" at the bottom left of the window.
Still, I think I'd use a block carret if I could.
More than the caret, what I sometimes can't find is a selection, e.g. when searching. Especially when there is a lot of colors, different backgrounds, etc. A visual feedback for carret and selection positions in the gutter could be nice...

I have trouble finding the 'found' text. The line hilight doesn't seem to become active until an arrow key (or something) is pressed to make the 'found' hilight go away. I find this incredibly annoying, personally. I'd like the line hilight to take effect immediately after a find while the found text was still hilighted.

Just FYI (and anyone else) I am aware of the problem and will provide a few enhancements in this regard in 2.0 or later.

INdeed, I'd want a block caret just for the retro feeling :) Can we also get sound effects when moving it around, so I can feel like it's an Atari ST? (whupps, afaik, Alan is an Amiga man)
