I think it's some old 20th Century thing, which has been replaced in the 21st Century by Subversion....

Absolutely! I used to use CVS, but never again. Subversion was designed to fix the many faults in CVS and has succeeded. I see TextMate's lack of proper CVS support as a good thing, because it encourages migration away from that antiquated version control system.

This part is true, but TextMate supports styling for many coding languages many of which you could argue are from the 20th century. To add to that Subversion support isn't where I would like to see it. I'd like to be able to directly connect, browse the subversion tree, commit, view history, and compare the differences of two files side by side in subversion, and other goodies related to connecting to files on the network.
