Come on, TM2 wasn't even on the top spot of the vaporware list yet.

Guys, you're not helping. It's a quantum thing. You observe it, you push the release date forward.
Seriously. I think Allan really plans to ship out something, at some point, and in all evidence the task is not that easy, takes longer than originally planned, and generates some conflict. Like a 'is it really worth it' conflict. My feeling is that he does not need additional motivation from us, and I greatly prefer he is happy and happily working on what he feels important. Good things usually come out from that state of mind

It seems that a highly respected Win text editor is coming to mac. Any one has some idea on UltraEdit?

UltraEdit is Probably "The Flagship" text editor of Windows machines. And if not, it is certainly the first runner up. UEStudio is a great, light weight IDE too, if they ever port that to the Mac as well. UltraCompare is a good text and hex file comparison program. But ExamDiff Pro is, in my opinion, much better. In many ways ExamDiff Pro is close to being like the OS X program "Delta Walker"

I have used UE on Win, did not particularly like it. TM folks most likely will like it. UE has a similar philosophy as TM.
Multi-Edit (ME) is IMO the best "text editor" on the Win platform. Technically it's an IDE, but barely.
When I moved to Mac, I was sorely disappointed in the selection of programming tools. I actually installed a VM w/windows so I could use ME. The reason I decided to use TextMate, was due to it being the editor that was closest to Multi-Edit, power-wise. However the first thing I thought when I first used TM, was "this is like UE, damn."

Textmate doesn't compare to anything "for Windows only". If you think it does or that there are better windows-only texteditors that surpass textmate. Then it's highly possible that you're not using Textmate to its full potential.
Simple as that.

You are right. TextMate is a shell compared to Multi-Edit.
Then again, maybe you need to take your ego out this conversation.
