I'm not sure about this so it's a question. When, from terminal, I do:
$ mate .
and then edit happily away, everything in the TM environment works great. But, when I copy from a different app (say Terminal) and try to paste, the clipboard contains its previous contents, not the new copy. Any thoughts on why this could be?
Thanks

Maybe related to this http://macromates.com/wiki/Troubleshooting/ CantPaste ?
If not, are you using any clipboard history tools?
No clipboard history tools, but also no other apps behaving this way. TM only does this when started from Terminal as far as I can tell. I'll try the technique in the topic shown below -- it's a system issue??

For new threads USE THIS: textmate@lists.macromates.com (threading gets destroyed and the universe will collapse if you don't) http://lists.macromates.com/mailman/listinfo/textmate

The issue mentioned at the wiki, yes.
As for only starting from Terminal -- when you do “mate” in the Terminal, this program only sends a message to the real TextMate application, which will be started just as if it had been double clicked in Finder. So I would be surprised if that’s the pattern.
