Are you sure that you are in the client.rb file found the directory / usr/lib/ruby/1.8/xmlrpc/ ? Please check the subdirectory of the client.rb file that you are reading..& hopefully making the changes to.. At times people have several installations of ruby and client.rb files that are in other places...
