René,
thanks.
I wonder if one could not test for the minimum versions of Perl, Python, Ruby or whatever in a "unified" way so if a bundle is missing something it can notify what the user needs to do, install it.
But then I am just a satisfied user with little if any understanding of the inner workings.
greetings, el

Hi el,
the problem is that the LaTeX bundle uses the (very old) Python version that ships with macOS. The “good” news is that this issue will be “fixed” in a future macOS update that probably will not include Python at all. This update of the scripting language support was part of the [release notes][] for macOS 10.15 (see section “Scripting Language Runtimes”):
Anyway, in the future we probably need to install Python and Perl to use some of the commands of the LaTeX bundle. One problem I see is that everybody might use slightly different versions of these runtimes and debugging might get harder. Other options are to port the commands to the (very old) version of Ruby that is included in TextMate or include Python and Perl runtimes in TextMate. For now I would just ignore the warning, though it is very likely that some parts of the bundle will not work in a future version of the OS, as it stands now.
Kind regards, René

Do I need to file an issue?
