My subject line pretty much says it all. I would like to implement a tab command that will delete the current line in a document. The best that I have been able to do so far is to remove the text, but not the line. I'd imagine that I could do it by iterating through the document and deleting the line in some complicated script, but I'm hoping for a simple solution. Is there a simple solution? Thanks.
Mike
I don't know if this will help at all... but did you know that you can delete a line of text with the shortcut: CTL-SHIFT-K
Cheers, Sean

I should have known that there was a shortcut! Thanks.

Is there a shortcut for duplicating a line, as well? I created one with a macro, but that was only because I couldn't find such a command built in. But I will be the first to admit that I've only scratched about 25% of TextMate's surface.

It's in the other 75% ;) Look inside the Text bundle.

⇧⌃D or CTRL-SHIFT-D :)
and btw there is a nice [tutorial][1] *cough, cough* linked from the TextMate Manual. Shameless plug, anyone? And I recommend exploring the standard bundles like text and source and of course the menus to enhance ones productivity.
have fun, Soryu

can you clarify a key combo on that cheat sheet for 'Insert a new line and begin a new "item" appropriate to context'? the key on the pdf looks like a caret with a dash above it:
_ ^
i can't figure out what that means!
thanks, michael.

That sounds like the "Enter" key. On my iBook G4 keyboard, it is on the right of the right command button, as well as via fn+return. On keyboards with numeric keypad, I think it is situated on that numeric keypad. On Jul 17, 2006, at 1:50 PM, Michael Reece wrote:

That's the enter key ⌅ Not to be confused with the return key ↩
It's found next to the arrow keys on PowerBooks. It's on the numberpad on most other keyboards.

You can find it with Ctrl - Apple - T, duplicate, but is it possible to find the key that it is bound to?

The menu you get this way should, if you use the latest cutting edge, tell you the key equivalent or tab trigger as well.

Hi MIke,
My subject line pretty much says it all. I would like to implement a tab command that will delete the current line in a document.
How about recording a macro that goes:
Edit => Select => Line Edit => Cut
saving the Scratch macro, and then putting in a tab equivalent. Is that what you're after?
Cheers, Paul

I like Sean's shortcut for the task I described, but I think I may want to try your macro for another task. Thanks for the help.
