I have not tried it yet, and it is still very much a work in progress, but now Fuse and the ssh file system are available for OS X:
http://googlemac.blogspot.com/2007/01/taming-mac-os-x-file-systems.html
If that works well there would be no need for an ssh implementation in TextMate, and Allan could use the time to add other cool things... And it probably is just a matter of time before ftp will be supported by this as well.

I just installed it, and now can't figure out how to unmount the server I mounted ;)
damnit all... lmfao

gmail sends the stuff to the list, saves it in the send-folder and you doesn't get your own mail - that's normal behaviour with gmail. when you use the gmail-interface you're happy with that because you will see your mail in a conversation not doubled.

I've been hoping someone would do this. I'm surprised they were able to reuse so much of the FUSE implementation. IMO, the MacFUSE release almost makes up for the lack of Leopard news at MacWorld.
On the other hand, you do _not_ want to ship or rely on a third-party kernel extension if you can avoid it.
If Apple could be persuaded to include FUSE as part of Leopard (or, at this point, a Leopard dot release), sure.

Sorry, tring something with gmail ;)

Normally I'd agree with you, but if Amit Singh had his hands in there, it's almost as if it came out of Apple itself ..
... not that I installed it you, though :-)

I've been playing with it bit since i seen it released, and i've found the command killall Finder to come in handy with getting rid of the volume icon from the desktop,
i tried this, and when i save files in textmate, they get written with a "Dec 31 1969" modification date. anyone else have this problem/know what to do about it?

I've been playing around with the SSHFS for a while, and I have tried to get one of the FTPFS implementations working with no luck. The MacFuse wiki indicates that FTPFS has been 'tested' with MacFUSE, has anyone on this list succeeded in doing this?
hi,
i managed to get it running and it works pretty decently :-)
it was a little bit of a fiddling and i compiled everything from source, patching darwinport files
what is your problem in getting it running?
best regards

Which implementation for the FTPFS did you use, also what did you need to patch and fiddle with? :)
Looks like MacFUSE has competition:
sshfs based Darwin optimized Userland Filesystem Library named "URDFS". (URD == Userland Related filesystem on Darwin)
This implementation contains URDFS Library and "sshfs depending code". URDFS is kext & userland messaging server, and the userland interface for filesystem depending code.
