Just select "Send escape sequence" for the Action field and enter "b" in the text field.

I never found iTerm to be as slow as a lot of people say and it really helps me out in a lot of ways. The prefs thing is easily solved with Tools > Save Display Profile or Tools > Save Terminal Profile. (I forget which one).
Now ... if only I can figure out how to send \033b via option+left arrow :)
