Hmmm. I've always used ⇧ for this. Is there any difference in behavior between ⇧ and ⌥?
Nope — ⌥ is the “standard” way to reveal alternate functionality, but I was afraid users wouldn’t notice it, so I also made it trigger om ⇧, thinking they’d use that key occasionally when entering text in the fields.
Of course a lot of users do not notice it, yet many seek this function, so it’s not a good design.
