I too have issues with iTerm. I used to use it all the time, but ended up switching back to Terminal.app after lots of frustration with iTerm. Tabs would be nice, but i rather find Terminal.app sufficient for now.
Biggest problem for me with iterm is its bad UTF-8 support. Use of mutt in UTF-8 locale in iterm is cumbersome whereas it works well in Terminal.
