Thanks for the Irssi tip. I'm always watching for good command-line apps. I'll give it a shot.
I find the combination of irssi within screen sessions unbeatable. That way, I can disconnect from screen and reconnect from another place with ssh and keep everything as if I never logged off. I find easier to manage multi-servers/networks setup with different screen sessions too.
