Try this tmCommand:

if [ ! -z "$TM_FILEPATH" ]; then mate "$TM_FILEPATH" 'PATH/TO/YOUR/OTHER/FILE' untitled fi

The 'untitled' name forces mate to open a project even if you don't have 'PATH/TO/YOUR/OTHER/FILE'.
