nope, not afraid of SIMBL here. The hack I wrote about in my original post comes via SIMBL, do you remember?

... it has some issues with spaces. (floating windows dont show in the spaces view)
doesnt sound quite healthy, but I have to try out, so thanks for the link. (I use spaces a lot to switch via shortcut between fullscreens enabled with megazoomer for coding/imaging/test-browsing/communication tasks).
