Could such a feature be included in TM? Or would it conflict horribly with the new syntax highlighting system?

I'm adding this to the 'maybe' section of my to-do. I guess it mainly depends on how much this will interfere with other parts of the TextMate source, but I think I can do that feature pretty self-contained (but I won't get around to it before a lot of other things are done though).
