I think I will also update the log parsing script so that it will warn the user if it does not see a "file:line: error style messages enabled" message in the first few lines of output.

Yeah, the error handling doesn't work if PSTricks is detected (among other things).
It shouldn't be too hard to fix; I'll have a look when I get time.
