Thanks for your reply. The ³Regular Expression² setting was the first thing that I had suspected but it was not active. I never figured out what caused the problem but restarting my computer corrected the issue.

Other then that, could you send a screen shot of your find dialog or try Reverting to Defaults https://github.com/textmate/textmate/wiki/Reverting-To-Defaults .
