Just a shot in the dark, but is it possible that this problem is related to a recent OS upgrade, like 10.4.8?
Its never worked for me on the powerbook when I've tried, ever since I bought my licence in feb 2006 (approx.)
I've just never bothered complaining about it because I tend to use ⌘⌃T to select bundle items I don't know the key combo for.
