Seconded. Critical issue. When the undo buffer becomes exhausted in whatever text file you're editing, Cmd+Z just silently now falls through to the file browser and wreaks havoc.
Is this also macOS 11.2?
Unfortunately I don’t have any theory as to what can cause this newly observed behavior, so any further details would be useful, especially if there is a way to reproduce.

This will happen when “undo” (in the file browser) undos “New File”: But I should imrove that, so that if content has been added to the file, that content should go to the trash and not be lost forever.
