You probably changed the file type. You can press ⌃⇧P to see the current scope (should contain ‘source.js’ for JavaScript files) and you can look in the status bar for what language the document is identified as — click to change (it sticks to the extension).
That was it - thank you. I didn't know you could change the file type association there.
