Am trying the latest 1.5.7 version and am getting the following crash when attempting to use the 'mate' CLI utility.
2008-05-30 18:35:27.487 mate[1659:10b] An uncaught exception was raised 2008-05-30 18:35:27.488 mate[1659:10b] [NOTE: this exception originated in the server.] *** Object does not implement or has different method signature 2008-05-30 18:35:27.490 mate[1659:10b] *** Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '[NOTE: this exception originated in the server.] *** Object does not implement or has different method signature' 2008-05-30 18:35:27.492 mate[1659:10b] Stack: ( 2477355339, 2526257403, 2477354097, 2454304598, 2454302457, 2477377962, 2477378066, 10507, 14446, 9754, 9525 ) Trace/BPT trap
Have been able to use mate in the past with 1.5.6 on Leopard 10.5.2 but just noticed this crash since upgrading to 10.5.3.
Anyone else noticed anything ?

It works fine for me, however my first boot in 10.5.3 I had some really incredible and indescribable things that happened. Ranging from the keyboard being lost on some applications, to finder crashing when opening files, quicklook didn't work and like 20 other really bizarre and crazy things.
The point I'm trying to make is that when I finally decided to reboot after the original 10.5.3 boot, everything is running smoothly. Us Mac users tend to never reboot so try giving that a shot. =)
Good Luck, Joe

Same here, works fine.
I am having this problem as well.
Reboot didn't help, and I've used both the current and cutting edge releases, and I'm still not a happy terminal user.
Please, daddy, don't make me use emacs...

Do you have Logitech Control Center installed?

Hi Boris,
YES!
Have a look at
http://blog.macromates.com/2007/logitech-control-center/
if you haven't already found it.
Cheers, Paul
Thanks - I might end up using one of the non-logitech config software options but for anyone else with this problem the quick fix is to edit /Library/InputManagers/LCC Scroll Enhancer Loader/Info and change the LoadBundleOnLaunch to NO.
Seems fine now.

Well, I'll be damned. And a little embarrassed.
Thanks a bunch, though! May your cookies never starve for milk.

Hah! Your welcome.
If it were my machine, I would immediately nuke-from-space anything related to Logitech Control Center. It is an evil, evil piece of software.
It'll screw up many applications that rely upon Distributed Objects. It also installs an input manager that, upon loading, adds a category to NSObject with such highly distinct method names like "-free". And it drags in the C++ runtime into every single application, C++ or not (though -- to be honest -- C++ may already be in every application due to other dependencies on the system).
Totally unacceptable.
