Haven't watched the video yet but I do have confirmation from Jonathan
Kew that the typesetting isn't affected by it:
"Yes, as far as I know it is impossible for synctex to affect the
layout. It does not create any new nodes within TeX's data structures;
it merely adds information to the existing nodes, but TeX's algorithms
are completely unaffected (unlike --src-specials or pdfsync)."
